Baritone Thomas Gunther is quickly making his presence felt on the operatic scene. Having completed his work at the well regarded Cincinatti Conservatory of Music in May of 2010, he has already earned high praise at the Soo Opera Theather (MI), singing the title role in their production of Gianni Schicchi. Immediately following, he demonstrated his versatility by singing the role of Silvio in Bel Cantati (DC) Opera’s performance of I Pagliacci, while singing Marco in Gianni Schicchi during the other half of the double bill. Most recently with Bel Cantanti Opera he performed the enormously difficult role of Dandini. (See reviews for his success) Mr. Gunther has already made his mark on the international scene as well, having sung the role of Marcello in La Boheme with “La Musica Lirica” in Italy. He also has scored successes in the competition circuit, advancing to the Upper Midwest Regional Finals in the 2010 edition of the Metropolitan Opera Competition, and advancing to the finals of the Chicago Lyric Opera’s Ryan Opera Center Competition. Mr. Gunther will next be found singing with Kentucky Opera in Lexington.
